Phase II Assessment of the MEG Properties
City of Martins Ferry, OH
The City of Martins Ferry received $205,403 in Clean Ohio Assistance funds to conduct a Phase II Assessment of the MEG Properties. The 6.6-acre property was once home to an iron and coke production facility from the 1880s to the 1960s and since then has been vacant. Martins Ferry selected SRW to complete the Phase II Assessment, which included drilling 45 soil borings, installing 14 monitoring wells, and collecting and analyzing soil and groundwater samples. Upon completion of field and laboratory testing, the data was interpreted, compared to Ohio EPA Voluntary Action Program standards and a Phase II assessment report prepared. The City plans to make the Property available for commercial and retail development, including a marina.
