Clean Ohio Assistance Fund Grant for Village of Coal Grove

Coal Grove, OH

COAF Assessment Grant:  Activities on behalf of the Village of Coal Grove included a Clean Ohio Assistance Grant in the amount of $167,880 to conduct Phase II activities at the former Carlyle Tile property.

COAF Remediation Grant:  The Village of Coal Grove awarded a contract to SRW for environmental consulting and Certified Professional services to manage the former Carlyle Tile Plant remediation, which involved the removal of 10,000 tons of soil impacted by polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons and the removal of asbestos. The remedial activities were completed on September 22, 2006.  In addition to managing and documenting removal activities, SRW is responsible for preparing a No Further Action Letter and obtaining a Covenant-Not-To-Sue.

As of December 2006, over 90% of the structures have been demolished.  McGinnis Inc. plans on building an intermodal freight facility on this site.
